SA Youth To Recruit 44 AmeriCorps Scholars To Serve As Academic Coaches

SA Youth recently received a three-year AmeriCorps grant of $303,338 to fund the Kids College Club! We will be recruiting 44 AmeriCorps scholars from local colleges to serve with the nonprofit’s Kids College Club for a year. The scholars will work as academic coaches in San Antonio’s inner city areas where children’s academic performance is lower than average. Creating a “college”

HELLO MY NAME IS ASHLEY VALENZUELA AND I AM GOING TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT HOW FUN WAS IT TO MEET SOMEONE FROM THE SPURS TEAM. IT WAS FUN TO HAVE DANNY GREEN COME TO SA YOUTH AND COME PLAY A LITTLE RECYCLING GAME WITH US. FOR TEAM UP CHALLENGE, WE ARE HELPING OUR COMMUNITY TO BE NEAT,NICE,CLEAN,NOT DIRTY, EXAMPLE: PICK UP TRASH,PLANT SEEDS ,PLANT VEGETABLE GARDEN,GIVE FOOD TO THE HOMELESS,RECYCLING, SIGN/POSTERS/FLYERS,GOING DOOR TO DOOR, CLEAN SIDEWALK,CLEAN PARKS, AND MAKE SIGN. I HOPE WITH TEAM UP CHALLENGE AND THE HELP OF COMMUNITIES THAT WE CAN MAKE THESE CHANGES TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY AND A SAFER PLACE FOR EVERYONE.


Hello my name is Emerald I am writing a blog about the experiences and opinions for the team up challenge activity. First I wanted to tell you that the team up challenge is about giving back, recycling, and also helping the environment be healthier and cleaner. Here are some examples and opinions of what we want to do: first we are going to pick up trash and put it where it belongs in the trash can or even in trash bags, plant a garden, give food to homeless, put things that belong in recycling bins, plant a garden, put up signs/flyers/posters/and banners, clean the parks, talk to people door to door about recycling, make a give back sign, clean sidewalks and alleys, and last but not least paint murals that say give back. Also we had the privilege to meet a spurs player named Danny Green he talked to us about giving back, recycling, and helping the environment and community be healthier cleaner and also nicer. So that is my blog enjoy it!
